Osteopathy

PRINCIPLES / ORIGINS

Origins

The foundations of osteopathy were laid out by Andrew T. Still in 1874 in the United States.

Osteopathy is all over the world and is notably a recognized profession in the United States, Europe and Oceania.

In Quebec, osteopaths who have graduated from the CEO or COQ following training over 6 years must comply with the criteria of the World Health Organization (WHO) and be part of Osteopathy Quebec .

Principles

Osteopathy is a holistic approach based on a thorough knowledge of the biomechanics, anatomy and physiology of the human body. This is based on accurate palpation impressions and mobility tests of anatomical structures whose main objective is to promote optimal posture. Each meeting is adapted according to the needs of the person.

During medical referrals, the osteopath works in multidisciplinarity to offer a complete care in agreement with the therapeutic team.

*Please note that the osteopath does not make diagnosis. You must refer to your doctor.
